Breastfeeding Laws Awareness Day (#BFLAD) in Olympia, Washington

I am lucky to have lived in states that have laws supporting my rights to breastfeed my children.  I have lived and nursed in Washington, Mississippi, Maryland, and Nevada. Never have I encountered harassment or negative comments (at least not directly to me), but that isn’t everyone’s experience. I have heard far too many stories of nursing moms being shamed or asked to leave a public place because they are feeding their baby and someone doesn’t like it.  I recently joined the effort to Normalize Breastfeeding and am happy to be bringing awareness to something that shouldn’t even be an issue in the first place.

Washington is, and will forever be, home. I was so happy to have the opportunity to photograph supporters at the Capitol!

Kicking off World Breastfeeding Week in Vancouver & Portland

I started World Breastfeeding Week with a very special session with two of my cousins, their sweet baby girls, and my wonderful assistant/second shooter.  This session was special because not only did I get to document an amazing time in my cousins’ lives, but my eldest daughter was my second shooter for this session and her help made me proud to be her mama! She covered a little of the behind the scenes of our session, took some beautiful images of her own, and explored our location a little as well. Here is a glimpse of our session through my lens.  I will share her perspective in the next post 🙂
